Jakub Banaszek

Pianist, composer, improviser.
A graduate of the Music School Complex in Radom and the Academy of Music in Kraków. With the Kuba Banaszek Quartet, he won several international and national competitions:

• 1st prize at the 5th Blue Note Poznań Competition (Poznań 2018),
• 1st prize at the 21st Review of Young Jazz and Blues Bands of Gdynia Sax Club (Gdynia 2018); additionally, an individual award in the form of a recording session,
• 2nd prize at the RCK Pro Jazz Festival (Kołobrzeg 2018),
• Grand Prix of the Jazz Individuality Competition as part of the 55th Jazz on the Odra River (Wrocław 2019); additionally, the band won a special prize funded by the Jazz Forum magazine.
In 2018, he was one of the speakers at the international Jazz XXI conference organized at the Academy of Music in Krakow. The subject of the presentation: Composition and Arrangement – in search of your own vision of a classical jazz trio. In 2020, he received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Young Poland program, and in 2021 he received a Creative Scholarship from the City of Krakow. In October 2020, the first album of his quartet, entitled „Band of Brothers” was released.
